World Heavyweight Champion Edge defeated Kane in a last man standing match at 20:15 after hitting a Con-Chair-Two on the challenger’s knee and following with the spear
Kofi Kingston pinned WWE IC Champion Dolph Ziggler (w/ Vickie Guerrero) to win the title with a crossbody off the top at 5:30; after the bout, Ziggler attacked Kingston from behind and dropped him with the Zig Zag; moments later, Vickie grabbed the mic and said Teddy Long wasn’t in the building which made her in charge and that an immediate rematch would take place (WWE Superstar Collection: Kofi Kingston)
WWE IC Champion Kofi Kingston pinned Dolph Ziggler (w/ Vickie Guerrero) at the 45-second mark with the spin kick to the head; after the match, Vickie yelled at Ziggler for the loss; after the commercial break, Ziggler and Vickie argued backstage over the loss, with Ziggler telling her maybe she needed to find a new boyfriend (WWE Superstar Collection: Kofi Kingston)
Dolph Ziggler (w/ Vickie Guerrero) defeated Drew McIntyre, the Big Show, and Cody Rhodes at 13:54 by pinning Rhodes with the Zig Zag; stipulations stated the winner would be the #1 contender for the World Heavyweight Title; prior to the bout, Vickie came out and said the previously scheduled Show vs. McIntyre vs. Rhodes match would now feature Ziggler as the fourth participant; late in the match, Wade Barrett came out and assaulted Show before leaving ringside
Michelle McCool (w/ Layla) pinned Kelly Kelly with the Faith Breaker; after the bout, McCool & Layla double teamed Kelly until Drew McIntyre came to her aid
Alberto Del Rio defeated Rey Mysterio Jr. at 17:01 in a Best 2 out of 3 falls match, 2-1; Ricardo Rodriguez served as Del Rio’s ring announcer for the match; fall #1: Del Rio won via submission with the armbreaker at 1:31; fall #2: Mysterio pinned Del Rio with a la magistral cradle at 7:27; fall #3: Del Rio won via count-out when Rodriguez prevented Mysterio from getting back into the ring after Mysterio hit a crossbody off the top onto Del Rio and Rodriguez on the floor; after the contest, Del Rio watched from the stage as Mysterio attacked Rodriguez and hit the 619 and springboard splash

Rey Mysterio Jr. & R-Truth defeated Alberto Del Rio & Cody Rhodes at 15:02 when Mysterio pinned Rhodes with the 619 and springboard splash in an impromptu match; Ricardo Rodriguez served as Del Rio’s ring announcer for the bout; following his entrance, Del Rio cut an in-ring promo in which he said he would win the Royal Rumble and become the new Mr. WrestleMania; Truth then interrupted, saying Del Rio can’t win the Rumble just because he has a creepy ring announcer or fancy cars; Rhodes then appeared at the entrance stage and said he would win the Rumble until Mysterio interrupted, said winning the Rumble was about beating the odds and he’s been doing that his whole life; Rhodes then said Mysterio winning the Rumble was 2006 and he was out of style; Truth then attacked Rhodes, leading to all four men fighting until Teddy Long came out and said the four would immediately compete in a tag team match
Trent Barreta pinned Drew McIntyre at 3:28 by reversing a gorilla press slam into a roll up; after the commercial break, McIntyre attacked Barreta backstage until Kelly Kelly confronted him; McIntyre stopped Kelly from walking away and said he was only going to ask Barreta for a rematch, with Kelly saying she didn’t believe him and didn’t want to be around him
Wade Barrett fought the Big Show to a no contest at the 1:40 mark when Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel interfered; moments later, Ezekiel Jackson appeared at the ring apron, distracting Show as he was then triple teamed by Barrett, Slater, and Gabriel; after Show fought them off, Jackson climbed into the ring and dropped Show with a clothesline, with the four men then assaulting Show, Jackson slamming Show, and Gabriel following with the 450 splash; after the commercial break, footage was shown of Show being helped to his feet by several referees (Barrett’s debut with new music)
Beth Phoenix pinned Michelle McCool (w/ Layla) at 4:06 with a roll over after McCool reversed the Glam Slam into a victory roll
WWE IC Champion Kofi Kingston pinned Jack Swagger in a non-title impromptu match at 9:06 with the SOS; prior to the bout, Kingston cut an in-ring promo discussing his title win the previous week; moments later, Swagger interrupted and said he was going to raise the bar on Smackdown in 2011, prompting Kingston to challenge him to a match

1/21/11 – featured an opening in-ring promo by Wade Barrett, alongside Ezekiel Jackson, Heath Slater, and Justin Gabriel, in which Barrett said Big Show would not be in the arena before introducing his group as the Corre; Jackson, Slater, and Gabriel followed with comments of their own; moments later, Teddy Long came out to the entrance stage and said they would have a problem if they were going to be acting outside the rules; Barrett replied by saying they all respected Long and wanted to proudly represent Smackdown as part of the Royal Rumble; Barrett then said there was not a leader of the Core and they were all equal; Long then said they could like Smackdown and the consequences of their actions or leave it; after Long went backstage, Alberto Del Rio drove out, said the Core was welcome on Smackdown, but that Smackdown was his show and he would win the Royal Rumble match; included a backstage segment with Vickie Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler in which Barrett, Jackson, Slater, and Gabriel came into the office to say they had nothing to do with Long’s assault and would be happy to help her in any way; Vickie then said one of Core would face World Heavyweight Champion Edge later in the show; featured a video package recapping the history of the Royal Rumble; featured a “Did you know?” graphic which read fans from more than 30 countries and all 50 states had already bought tickets to WrestleMania 27; included an ‘In Your Corner’ segment focusing on the WWE’s support of the US troops, with comments from President George W. Alberto Del Rio defeated R-Truth via submission with the armbreaker at 10:48; Ricardo Rodriguez served as Del Rio’s ring announcer for the bout; during the bout, Teddy Long was shown knocked out backstage with Dolph Ziggler, Vickie Guerrero, Michael Tarver, and several medics looking over him; minutes later, medics put Long on a stretcher and took him out of the arena into a waiting ambulance (Long’s last appearance for a month)

Rey Mysterio Jr. pinned Cody Rhodes with the 619 and splash off the top at 4:02; after the bout, Rhodes was tended to in the ring after it appeared Mysterio’s shinguard injured Rhodes during the 619; following the commercial break, Rhodes was tended to backstage by a trainer and, with his face away from the camera, was told his nose was broken
Jack Swagger defeated WWE IC Champion Kofi Kingston in a non-title 3-minute amateur wrestling challenge; the match could be won via pinfall or by gaining the most points; final score: Swagger (10), Kingston (9); after the match, Swagger attacked Kingston for it being such a close match, with Kingston fighting back, hitting the spin kick to the face and crossbody off the top
Drew McIntyre pinned Trent Barretta at 2:07 with an overhead throw off the top; after the bout, McIntyre extended his hand to Barretta but Barretta knocked him out of the ring; moments later, McIntyre assaulted Barretta and attempted to drop him with the Future Shock until Kelly Kelly came out, yelled at McIntyre, and tended to Barretta
Justin Gabriel (w/ Wade Barrett, Ezekiel Jackson, & Heath Slater) pinned World Heavyweight Champion Edge in a non-title match at 10:32 after Jackson dropped Edge with a clothesline from the apron behind the referee’s back; prior to the bout, Vickie Guerrero came out to the entrance stage to introduce Dolph Ziggler as the guest commentator for the match; Vickie remained ringside for the duration of the match; after the bout, Corre assaulted Edge, ending with Gabriel hitting the 450 splash and Corre raising their hands above Edge’s body; after Corre left the ring, Ziggler put his foot on Edge’s chest as the show ended

World Heavyweight Champion Edge & Kelly Kelly defeated Dolph Ziggler, Michelle McCool, & Layla (w/ Vickie Guerrero) in a handicap match at 10:12 when Kelly pinned Layla with the spear; stipulations stated Edge’s title was at stake in the match and that he would be stripped of the championship if he used the spear; after the bout, Vickie entered the ring and fired Kelly before ordering her from ringside; moments later, as Kelly cried and walked up the ramp, Vickie told Edge he would defend against Ziggler the following week with herself as the referee; Ziggler then came up behind Edge and dropped him with the Zig Zag to end the show

Justin Gabriel (w/ Wade Barrett, Ezekiel Jackson, & Heath Slater) pinned WWE Tag Team Champion Vladimir Kozlov (w/ WWE Tag Team Champion Santino Marella) with the 450 splash at 2:18 after blocking an elbow drop by lifting his knees; late in the bout, Santino hit the Cobra on an interfering Slater only to then be attacked by Gabriel; after the bout, Barrett hit the Wasteland on Santino before Jackson dropped Kozlov with the uranage

Daniel Bryan pinned World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry to win the title at the 15-second mark in an impromptu match; prior to the bout, Henry came to the ring on a crutch and with his foot in a cast and cut a promo about his match with the Big Show at Survivor Series; Show then ranted about the fans being happy he was injured and that Show claimed he was kicked “in your private spot” to make Henry look bad; Henry then said he was there to show a champion fights through pain, adding he wanted to compete but he wasn’t cleared to do so by Teddy Long and the doctors; moments later, Show walked out to the ring and discussed Henry claiming he kicked him in the knee, adding he knew why Henry did it and it was because Henry knew he was about to lose the title; Show then knocked Henry out with a punch and left the ring, with Bryan then running out with referee Charles Robinson to cash in his Money in the Bank title shot; after the match, Bryan celebrated by standing on top of the commentary table; moments later, Long ran out to the ring and clarified that Henry was not cleared to compete and Bryan had to hand over the title belt; the crowd then chanted “Teddy sucks” before Bryan eventually handed back the title, with Long giving it to Henry; Long then gave Bryan back his Money in the Bank briefcase and said he would give Bryan another chance for a title match by facing WWE IC Champion Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Wade Barrett later in the night, with the winner facing Henry the following Tuesday during the live Smackdown in a steel cage match
