– Marc Mero (w/ Sable), Barry Windham, Rocky Maivia, & Jake Roberts (sub. for Mark Henry) defeated WWF IC Champion Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Goldust (w/ Marlena), Crush, & Jerry Lawler in an elimination match at 23:44; Sunny provided guest commentary for the bout, subbing for Lawler; during Helmsley’s entrance, the commentary team noted he was without an escort and Jim Ross added, “He’s more than perfect,” subtly referring to the fact Mr. Perfect was no longer with Helmsley; after Mero’s team made their entrance, Mero took the mic and introduced Roberts as the replacement for Henry; during the match, Sunny said HHH was tired of Perfect taking all the credit, explaining why Perfect wasn’t ringside; it was also noted Don Muraco was in attendance; Harvey Wippleman served as the second ringside referee for the bout; Roberts pinned Lawler at 10:01 with the DDT after avoiding a slam attempt; Goldust pinned Windham with the Curtain Call at 12:44; Mero pinned Helmsley at 19:19 with a moonsault onto a standing Helmsley; Crush pinned Mero with the heart punch at 20:30 after Mero missed a crossbody to the floor when Goldust pushed Crush out of the way; Crush pinned Roberts with the heart punch at 20:53; Maivia pinned Crush with a crossbody at 23:12 after Crush accidentally hit the heart punch to Goldust; Maivia pinned Goldust with a running shoulderbreaker (Maivia’s TV in-ring debut; Roberts’ return after a month absence) (Survivor Series 96 – 11/17/96; Madison Square Garden)
– Triple H (w/ Chyna) defeated WWF IC Champion the Rock (w/ Mark Henry) at 26:03 in a ladder match to win the title after Chyna hit a low blow on the champion as he climbed the ladder; prior to the bout, the Chris Warren Band performed the DX theme song to bring the challenger and Chyna to the ring; late in the match, Henry threw powder in Triple H’s face, blinding him; after the contest, X-Pac and WWF Tag Team Champions the Road Dogg & Billy Gunn appeared to celebrate and help Triple H to the back (Summer Slam 98 – 8/30/98; Madison Square Garden)
– The Rock defeated Ken Shamrock and Mankind in a steel cage match at 18:46 by pinning Shamrock after Mankind hit Shamrock over the head with a steel chair and began climbing out of the cage; the bout could end via escaping the cage or by pinfall; due to pre-match stipulations, Rock became the #1 contender to the world title (Breakdown – 9/27/98; Hamilton, Ontario)
– The Rock defeated WWF World Champion Mankind at 21:47 in an I Quit match to win the title following ten chair shots to the head while the champion had his hands handcuffed behind his back; the champion never really submitted, however an audio clip from a promo earlier in the night was played over the PA with Mankind screaming “I quit! I quit! I quit!;” after the bout, Rock celebrated in the ring before walking down the aisle, standing over the body of Mankind, and hoisting the title belt in the air; moments later, Mankind refused to be taken backstage on a stretcher and was helped backstage; footage from the match, as well as of Mick Foley’s family sitting ringside, was featured in the 2000 documentary Beyond the Mat; Foley’s family was not mentioned during the match nor were they shown on camera; voted Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s Match of the Year (Royal Rumble 99 – 1/24/99; Anaheim, CA)
– WWF World Champion Steve Austin pinned the Rock at 17:07 in a No Holds Barred match with the Stunner after special referee Shane McMahon accidentally hit the challenger with the title belt; when Shane refused to count the pinfall, Vince McMahon came ringside with a new referee and hit Shane with Austin’s Smoking Skull belt (Backlash 99 – 4/25/99; Providence, RI)
– WWF World Champion the Rock defeated Kurt Angle and Triple H at 20:12 by pinning Triple H with the People’s Elbow after Triple H collided with Stephanie McMahon on the apron and was then hit with a sledgehammer; after the match, Angle carried Stephanie backstage; early in the bout, Angle suffered a legit concussion after Triple H put him through a table (Summer Slam 00 – 8/27/00; Raleigh, NC)
– The Rock & the Undertaker defeated WWF Tag Team Champions Edge & Christian to win the titles at 8:42 when the Rock pinned Edge with a spinebuster and the People’s Elbow (12/18/00; Greenville, SC)
– WWE World Champion the Rock pinned Ric Flair in a non-title match with the Rock Bottom; after the match, Chris Jericho made a surprise appearance by interrupting Flair’s important announcement, rumored to be his retirement speech, and hit Flair in the face with a steel chair (7/29/02; Greensboro, NC)
– Brock Lesnar (w/ Paul Heyman) pinned WWE World Champion the Rock to win the title at 15:49 by blocking the Rock Bottom and hitting the F5; at about the 12-minute mark, the champion hit the Rock Bottom on Heyman through the Spanish announce table; Rock was noticably booed in the match (Rock’s last appearance for 4 months) (Summer Slam 02 – 8/25/02; Nassau Coliseum)
– The Rock pinned Hulk Hogan at 12:36 with the Rock Bottom after hitting him with a steel chair, slid to him by referee Sylvian Grenier who pretended to be knocked out; Hogan hit the legdrop on Rock late in the match and made the cover only for the lights to go out; when they came back on, Grenier was knocked out and Vince McMahon appeared, distracting Hogan from ringside; after the bout, McMahon celebrated with the Rock and Grenier; McMahon returned to the ring moments later, taking off his jacket and shirt to reveal a “Hulkamania sucks” t-shirt underneath; McMahon then tore the shirt and threw it in the face of the bloody Hogan as the show came to a close (No Way Out 03 – 2/23/03; Montreal, Quebec)

– Edge & Christian defeated WWF Tag Team Champions Scotty 2 Hotty & Grandmaster Sexay, Matt & Jeff Hardy (w/ Lita), and Test & Albert (w/ Trish Stratus) in an elimination match to win the titles at 13:48; Matt pinned Test at 3:42 following the Swanton by Jeff after Test hit Matt with a pumphandle slam and Jeff knocked Albert to the floor as he attempted to break the cover; Christian pinned Matt with the Unprettier at 7:57 after Matt attempted the Twist of Fate on Edge; Edge pinned Grandmaster following a belt shot to the back of the head from Christian after Grandmaster hit the Tennessee Jam; prior to the bout, Edge & Christian did a 5-second pose in tribute to the Bill Buchner error from the 86 World Series (King of the Ring 2000 – 6/25/00; Boston, MA)
– Edge pinned Eddie Guerrero in a No DQ match at around the 19-minute mark following a DDT off the top of a ladder; mid-way through the contest, referee Mike Sparks was helped backstage after Edge accidentally struck him in the face with the ladder; after Edge went backstage, the fans cheered Guerrero as he struggled to his feet (9/24/02; San Diego, CA)
– Edge pinned WWE IC Champion Randy Orton at 26:37 to win the title with the spear after Orton hit an exposed turnbuckle back-first (Vengeance 04 – 7/11/04; Hartford, CT)
– Edge (w/ Lita) defeated Matt Hardy in a ladder match at 13:48 after swinging Hardy from the cable so that he landed across the top rope, then tying Hardy’s arms in the ropes and having Lita lock him in a crucifix to prevent him from escaping; due to pre-match stipulations, Hardy was forced to leave Raw; had Hardy won, he would have claimed Edge’s Money in the Bank world title shot and Edge would have been forced to leave the Raw brand (10/3/05; Dallas, TX)
– John Cena defeated WWE World Champion Edge to win the title in a TLC match at 25:28 after hitting a FU from the top of the ladder through two tables stacked on top of each other; Lita interfered late in the match until Cena dropped her with the FU; after the bout, the new champion hugged his father, who sat ringside for the match; pre-match stipulations stated if Cena didn’t win the match he would have to sign a 3-year contract with Smackdown! (Unforgiven 06 – 9/17/06; Toronto, Ontario)
– WWE Raw Tag Team Champion Edge pinned Shawn Michaels in a streetfight at 14:04 after WWE Raw Tag Team Champion Randy Orton interfered and dropped a bloody Michaels with the RKO; after the bout, Orton threw Edge over the top to the floor and attempted the Con-Chair-Two on Michaels until Ric Flair made the save; Kenny Dykstra then attacked Flair from behind and threw Flair over the top to the floor, with Carlito then attacking Kenny; Michaels then hit the superkick on Kenny, Carlito, and Orton and was the last man standing as the show went off the air (1/22/07; Lafayette, LA)
– The Undertaker defeated World Heavyweight Champion Edge via submission to win the title at 23:48 with the leglock choke as Edge attempted a cover on the challenger after hitting the spear; during the champion’s entrance, Teddy Long wheeled Vickie Guerrero onto the entrance stage where she kissed Edge good luck; during the final moments of the match, Curt Hawkins & Zach Ryder attempted to interfere on behalf of the champion but were easily fought off by Taker (WrestleMania 24 – 3/30/08; Citrus Bowl)
– Edge pinned Christian at 12:09 in an impromptu match with the spear after avoiding the Killswitch and ramming Christian shoulder-first into the ringpost; prior to the bout, Edge cut an in-ring promo on his match at Over the Limit against Randy Orton; moments later, he was interrupted by Christian’s entrance; after the match, Orton appeared on the big screen and said he didn’t know why Christian was out there because that wasn’t the opponent Orton had picked for him; the Undertaker’s music then sounded, with Taker then coming out to the ring (5/17/10; Toronto, Ontario)
– Edge defeated World Heavyweight Champion Kane, Rey Mysterio Jr., and Alberto Del Rio in a TLC match to win the title at 22:17 after hitting a spear which sent Kane off the apron and through a table on the floor; Mysterio dressed as Gene Simmons for the bout; Ricardo Rodriguez served as Del Rio’s ring announcer for the match; late in the bout, Rodriguez tried to climb the ladder but Kane dropped him with a chokeslam (TLC 2010 – 12/18/10; Houston, TX)
– World Heavyweight Champion Edge defeated Kane, Drew McIntyre, Wade Barrett, Rey Mysterio Jr., and the Big Show (sub. for Dolph Ziggler) in an Elimination Chamber match at 31:30; order of entry: Edge, Mysterio, Barrett, Kane, McIntyre, and Show; order of elimination: Show pinned Barrett with a punch to the face at 18:49; Kane pinned Show with the chokeslam after Show sustained the 619 and spear at 20:54; Kane pinned McIntyre by catching him coming off the top and hitting the chokeslam at 21:09; Edge pinned Kane with the spear at 23:51 as Kane held Mysterio attempting a powerbomb; after the elimination, Kane dropped both Edge and Mysterio with the chokeslam; Edge pinned Mysterio with a spear as Mysterio came off the top; after the contest, Alberto Del Rio attacked Edge and locked him in the armbreaker, with Christian then running out, brawling with Del Rio and dropping him with the Killswitch before leaving the ring; moments later, Edge held the title belt in the air while looking down at Del Rio (Christian’s surprise return) (Elimination Chamber 2011 – 2/20/11; Oakland, CA)
– World Heavyweight Champion Edge (w/ Christian) pinned Alberto Del Rio (w/ Brodus Clay) at 11:09 with the spear, shortly after Christian hit a tornado DDT on the floor on an interfering Clay; Ricardo Rodriguez served as Del Rio’s ring announcer for the bout; after the contest, Edge approached Del Rio’s Rolls Royce parked at the entrance stage, eventually stomping it until Christian brought tire irons for the both of them; Edge then smashed the windows and scratched the car before standing on the hood and holding up the title belt (WrestleMania 27 – 4/3/11; Georgia Dome)

– Sting fought NWA World Champion Ric Flair (w/ JJ Dillon) to a 45-minute time-limit draw at 39:14; during the bout, Dillon was suspended above the ring in a shark cage; Sandy Scott, Gary Juster, and 1988 Penthouse Pet of the Year Patty Mullen served as judges for the match, with Scott ruling it a draw, Juster voting for Sting, and Mullen voting for Flair; Jason Hervey, of “The Wonder Years,” and Ken Osmond, Eddie Haskel of “The New Leave it to Beaver,” sat ringside with the judges (voted Match of the Year by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter) (Clash of the Champions – 3/27/88; Greensboro Coliseum)
– Sting & Dusty Rhodes fought NWA Tag Team Champions Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard (w/ JJ Dillon) to a double disqualification at 11:01 after both challengers shoved referee Teddy Long, with NWA US Champion Barry Windham then running out, attacking Rhodes, and applying the claw hold outside the ring; after the bell rang, NWA World Champion Ric Flair came out as well and with the champions triple teamed Sting inside the ring (Clash of the Champions 2 – 6/8/88; Miami, FL)
– Ricky Morton defeated Ivan Koloff (w/ Paul Jones) in a Russian chain match, despite interference by Jones; after the bout, the Russian Assassin appeared and threw Morton to the floor; moments later, Jones began blaming Koloff for the loss – even though it was his own fault – with Koloff eventually knocking Jones down; the Assassin then attacked Koloff, with another masked Russian appearing; the Russians and Jones then assaulted Koloff with the chain before hanging him over the top rope with it (debut of the second Russian Assassin) (Clash of the Champions III – 9/7/88; Albany, GA)
– NWA World Champion Ric Flair defeated Terry Funk (w/ Gary Hart) in a non-title I Quit Match at 18:33 when Funk submitted to the figure-4; prior to the bout, a pre-taped promo from Flair aired; after the bout, Funk shook Flair’s hand as he and Flair had promised to do if they lost; moments later, Hart punched Funk with Flair then going after Hart until NWA TV Champion the Great Muta and the Dragon Master jumped Flair; Sting then appeared to make the save, with Sting applying the Scorpion Deathlock on the Dragon Master as Flair put Muta in the figure-4; NWA US Champion Lex Luger then came out and hit Sting in the back with a steel chair and Muta hit Flair with the same chair moments later; Sting, Flair, and Funk continued to be assaulted for several more minutes before Luger and J-Tex left ringside; Luger, before going backstage, used the chair to destroy the trophies presented to Sting and Flair earlier in the show by Bill Apter of Pro Wrestling Illustrated (Clash of the Champions IX – 11/15/89; Troy, NY)

– Ric Flair & Arn Anderson defeated WCW/NWA Tag Team Champions Steve Austin & Brian Pillman in a Best 2 out of 3 falls match at 20:47, 2-0; fall #1: Flair pinned Pillman with a running forearm at 9:41 after Anderson tripped Austin as he ran the ropes and held him back from breaking the cover; after the fall, Michael Buffer mistakenly named Flair & Anderson the new champions; fall #2: the challengers won via disqualification at 11:06 when NWA World Champion Barry Windham came off the top, attacking Flair as Flair attempted to apply the figure-4 on Austin; moments later, Paul Roma came through the crowd to make the save; after the bout, Schiavone conducted a ringside interview with Windham in which Windham said Flair wanted none of him and would never be the world champion again; Flair then jumped Windham, with the two men brawling until they were pulled away by security (Flair’s TV in-ring return after 2 years) (Clash of the Champions XXIII – 6/17/93; Norfolk, VA)

– WCW World Champion Ric Flair & Sting defeated Vader (w/ Harley Race) & WCW International World Champion Rick Rude in an elimination match at around the 21-minute mark; Vader & Rude came out to generic music while Flair & Sting came out to Flair’s theme; WCW Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel provided guest commentary for the match; Flair and Vader were counted-out at around the 15:30 mark as Bockwinkel prevented Vader from assaulting Flair at ringside with a chair; moments later, an injured Flair was helped backstage by officials; Sting pinned Rude with a tombstone and splash off the top (Clash of the Champions XXVI – 1/27/94; Baton Rouge, LA)
– WCW World Champion Ric Flair pinned WCW International World Champion Sting in a unification match with a roll up and grabbing the tights for leverage at 17:15 as Sting leaned out over the apron to check on Sensuous Sherri – who Flair had pulled in front of a Sting plancha to the floor moments earlier; prior to the bout, WCW President Nick Bockwinkel took possession of both title belts following the participants’ introductions, with Sherri then appearing, wearing Sting-like facepaint and implying she had chosen Sting as her new wrestler to manage; Sherri as well as Bockwinkel sat ringside for the duration of the match; after the bout, Sherri and Flair hugged, revealing a set up, and double teamed Sting until Hulk Hogan – with Jimmy Hart – made the save and cleared them from the ring; following a commercial break, Gene Okerlund conducted an in-ring interview with Hogan in which Hogan said he would have Ted Turner and a contract on WCW Saturday Night and dared Flair to accept his challenge to a title match (Clash of the Champions XXVII – 6/23/94; Charleston, SC)
– Ricky Steamboat pinned WCW US Champion Steve Austin to win the title at 16:08 by reversing a bodyslam into a cradle; pre-match stipulations stated Steamboat could win the title if Austin was disqualified; prior to the match, footage was shown of Eric Bischoff leaving the arena in an ambulance with WCW World Champion Hulk Hogan inside; during the match, footage of Hogan’s ambulance was shown on its way to the hospital; moments later, it was announced Sting had boardered a charter airplane in Chicago – where he was making an appearance – and was on his way to face Flair in Hogan’s place if Hogan was deemed unable to compete; Austin’s tights for the bout read “Dragon Slayer” on the back; during the bout, Steamboat suffered what would become a career-ending back injury (Clash of the Champions XXVIII – 8/24/94; Cedar Rapids, IA)

Eddie Guerrero pinned Diamond Dallas Page to win the BattleBowl ring at 4:22 with the frog splash after knocking Page off the top; after the bout, Page threw the referee to the floor, fought off Chavo Guerrero Jr. as he attempted to make the save, and then dropped Eddie three times with the Diamond Cutter – the third time coming from the top rope (Clash of the Champions XXXIII – 8/15/96; Denver, CO)

– WCW Cruiserweight Champion Chris Jericho pinned Eddie Guerrero at 6:42 after a series of roll overs; after the bout, Guerrero attacked the champion, dropped him with a brainbuster, laid the title belt on Jericho, and hit the frog splash (Clash of the Champions XXXV – 8/21/97; Nashville, TN)
– WCW Tag Team Champions Scott Hall & Randy Savage (w/ Elizabeth) defeated Lex Luger & Diamond Dallas Page at 9:57 when Hall pinned Luger after DDP accidentally dropped Luger with the Diamond Cutter; prior to the bout, black and white balloons fell from the rafters as Savage, Elizabeth, Hall, Kevin Nash, Buff Bagwell, Scott Norton, Vincent, Syxx, and Konnan appeared with Nash announcing, in an effort to give back to the fans, Savage would be defending the tag team titles with Hall; Nash was in Hall & Savage’s corner early on but was ejected by referee Nick Patrick after he threw Luger into the ringpost; after the bout, nWo fliers fell from the ceiling (Clash of the Champions XXXV – 8/21/97; Nashville, TN)

– Kane & Mankind (w/ Paul Bearer) defeated Billy Gunn & the Road Dogg, WWF IC Champion the Rock & WWF European Champion D-Lo Brown (sub. for an injured Owen Hart), and WWF Tag Team Champions – WWF World Champion Steve Austin & the Undertaker to win the titles when Kane pinned Taker with the chokeslam at 14:30 after Taker dropped Brown with the chokeslam and sent Gunn to the floor with a clothesline; during the ring entrances, it was announced Hart, Dan Severn, and Ken Shamrock would compete the following week in a triple threat match; stipulations stated that one partner could not pin the other partner, which Gunn & Road Dogg did several weeks earlier; before the match, Shamrock attacked Hart, with Triple H & X-Pac then fighting with the Rock; moments later, Steve Blackman, Sgt. – WWF World Title Touranment Finals: The Rock defeated WWF Hardcore Champion Mankind at 17:15 when Vince McMahon called for the bell as Mankind was caught in Rock’s Sharpshooter, even though Mankind did not submit, moments after Rock hit the Rock Bottom and then gave the People’s Eyebrow to McMahon; prior to the bout, the McMahons and their officials were shown backstage, making it clear they had returned to the arena; early in the contest, Vince & Shane McMahon came to ringside; immediately after the bout, the McMahons presented Rock with the world title belt and all three hugged in the ring; Vince then grabbed the microphone, saying “the people screwed the people”, and said he would elaborate further the following night on Raw; moments later, a confused Mankind confronted Vince, with Rock assaulting Mankind from behind and eventually hitting the Rock Bottom; Steve Austin then appeared in the aisle before running into the ring, fighting off Rock as the McMahons ran backstage, hitting the Stunner, and tossing Rock to the floor; moments later, Austin hit the Stunner on Mankind as well; before going backstage, Austin briefly kicked and pounded on Rock on the floor (Survivor Series 98 – 11/15/98; St. Louis, MO)
