NWA US Champion Dick Slater pinned Tim Horner at 5:37 with his feet on the ropes after reversing a headlock into a back suplex from the middle turnbuckle; during the bout, Mark Youngblood and Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion Angelo Mosca Jr. were shown signing autographs in the crowd; later in the bout, David Crockett said a ringside photographer (Bill Apter, not named) was from the leading wrestling magazine, which spoke to the importance of the match
Jimmy Valiant & Dory Funk Jr. defeated Assassin #1 & #2 (w/ Paul Jones) via disqualification at 6:58 when Jones climbed in the ring and hit Funk with his shoe as Funk had one Assassin in the spinning toe hold as Valiant had the other in an abdominal stretch; during the bout, Bob Caudle’s commentary of the match for another broadcast could be heard underneath the commentary team’s voices; the Assassins initially won the match at 6:08 when, as Valiant had one Assassin in the sleeper, the other came off the top rope with an axe handle, switched places with his partner, and made the cover; after the pinfall, Mark Youngblood came to the ring and told referee Tommy Young what happened, with Young calling for the match to continue; after the contest, Valiant grabbed the shoe and chased Jones out of the building; moments later, Rufus R. Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion Angelo Mosca Jr. defeated Ivan Koloff (w/ Gary Hart) via disqualification when the Great Kabuki attacked Mosca, moments after Mosca punched Hart off the apron but then failed a crossbody off the top attempt; after the match, Khabuki held Mosca Jr. for Koloff to assault him with his chain; Angelo Mosca Sr. then came out to make the save but Kabuki sprayed green mist in his face; Koloff hit the driving knee to the back to Mosca Sr. and attempted another before Jr. took the chain and cleared the ring to make the save; moments later, David Crockett conducted an interview with the Moscas, with Jr. saying 20 percent of his father’s sight had been taken; Sr., wearing an eye patch and with the chain, yelled that he and Jr. would get payback on Hart, Koloff, and Kabuki (the bout was joined several minutes in progress)
