Slaughter & Don Kernodle in a no time limit steel cage match to win the titles at around the 33-minute mark when Youngblood pinned Kernodle after Steamboat put his partner on top of Kernodle behind the referee’s back, moments after Slaughter had done the same to put Kernodle on Youngblood; prior to the bout, the champions came out to Bill Conti’s “Gonna Fly Now” and Kernodle wore a T-shirt which read “Greensboro March 13” on the front and “Slaughter Kernodle World Champs” on the back; Sandy Scott was the guest referee for the match; stipulations stated Steamboat & Youngblood would have to break up if they didn’t win the titles

– Dusty Rhodes & Manny Fernandez defeated NWA Tag Team Champions & NWA Six-Man Tag Team Champions Ivan Koloff & Don Kernodle (w/ NWA Six-Man Tag Team Champion Nikita Koloff) to win the titles in a steel cage match at the 32-minute mark when Fernandez pinned Koloff after Rhodes hit Koloff in the back of the head with the champions’ own foreign object as Koloff had a sleeper applied, with Fernandez then falling on top for the win; late in the match, Fernandez hit a splash off the top of the cage onto Koloff; after the contest, Ivan & Nikita attacked Kernodle and double teamed him for several minutes until other wrestlers and officials pulled them away; eventually, EMTs and Kernodle’s parents climbed in the ring to check on him and Kerndole was taken backstage on a stretcher

– 5/7/89: The titles were vacated after Rotunda & Williams assaulted guest referee Nikita Koloff during a title defense against the Road Warriors at Wrestle War in Nashville, TN. An 8-team tournament was held to determine the new champions. Dangerously hit Jim Cornette from behind in the head with a tennis racquet loaded with a horsehoe and chain, knocking him out, with Shane Douglas & Johnny Ace then coming out to carry Cornette backstage

– Rick & Scott Steiner defeated NWA Tag Team Champions Michael Hayes & Jimmy Garvin to win the titles at around the 19-minute mark when Rick pinned Hayes after Garvin accidentally hit a kneedrop off the top onto his partner, as Rick had Hayes covered following a powerslam; Hayes & Garvin were recognized as tag team champions until the match aired; during the bout, it was announced Flair would face NWA TV Champion the Great Muta in the following week’s main event and that Sting & Brian Pillman would face Jack Victory & Rip Morgan the following night on The Main Event; mid-way through the match, Woman briefly appeared at ringside; after the bout, Tom Zenk, Brian Pillman, Shane Douglas & Johnny Ace came out to celebrate with the new champions; moments later, Jim Ross conducted an in-ring interview with the Steiners regarding their title win

– Michael Hayes & Jimmy Garvin (w/ Big Daddy Dink) defeated WCW Tag Team Champions Doom (w/ Teddy Long) to win the titles at 6:57 when Garvin pinned Simmons after Reed accidentally hit his partner with a foreign object thrown in the ring by Long, with Dink then shoving Garvin onto Simmons for the win; prior to the bout, the challengers were escorted to the ring by Diamond Dallas Page who then introduced Dink as the Freebirds’ “road boss” before leaving ringside; after the match, DDP and the Diamond Dolls returned ringside and celebrated with the new champions as Reed assaulted Simmons with the weapon and left the ring with Long

WCW Tag Team Championship Tournament Finals: Arn Anderson & Larry Zbyzsko defeated Rick Steiner & Bill Kazmier to win the titles at 5:34 when Zbyzsko pinned Kazmaier when Anderson hit Kazmaier in the ribs as he attempted a gorilla press slam on Zbyzsko; prior to the bout, footage was shown of how each team made it to the finals; Kazmaier’s ribs were heavily taped after he was attacked earlier in the show by Anderson & Zbyzsko; after the commercial break, Jim Ross & Tony Schiavone conducted an interview with the new champions to close the broadcast

– Dustin Rhodes & Ricky Steamboat (mystery partner) (sub. for Barry Windham) defeated WCW Tag Team Champions Arn Anderson & Larry Zbyzsko to win the titles at 14:48 when Steamboat pinned Anderson with the crossbody off the top, moments after Rhodes hit Anderson with the bulldog; prior to the match, footage was shown of Anderson & Zbyzsko attacking Windham’s hand at Halloween Havoc and of a Rhodes & Windham tag team match which took place after Havoc in which Windham was said to be in a lot of pain due to the injury; upon his entrance, Windham announced he had reconstructive surgery on his hand and wouldn’t be able to compete but then brought out Rhodes’ partner, dressed all in black and with a dragon mask covering his face; moments later, Rhodes revealed the masked man as Steamboat (Steamboat’s surprise return after a 2-year absence)

– Dustin Rhodes & Barry Windham defeated WCW/NWA Tag Team Champions Steve Williams & Terry Gordy to win the titles at 29:46 when Windham pinned Gordy after Rhodes, the illegal man, hit the bulldog on Gordy as the referee tried to send Williams out of the ring; after the contest, WCW World Champion Ron Simmons, Van Hammer, Erik Watts, Marcus Alexander Bagwell, and Shane Douglas came out to celebrate with Rhodes & Windham at ringside; following the commercial break, Ross conducted an interview with the new champions, during which Windham was shown carrying all the belts and said he knew he could win the match if he could only hit the superplex; a replay of the finish then aired to close the broadcast

– Ricky Steamboat & Shane Douglas defeated WCW/NWA Tag Team Champions Dustin Rhodes & Barry Windham to win the titles at 15:54 when Douglas pinned Windham with the belly to belly suplex after the champions began arguing and traded punches; after the bout, Rhodes returned to the ring to apologize to Windham, with Windham attacking Rhodes, hitting a DDT and superplex before he was pulled away by referees; after the commercial break, Ventura conducted a backstage interview with the new champions, during which Windham appeared and laid out both with repeated shots with a steel chair

– The Nasty Boys (w/ Missy Hyatt) defeated WCW Tag Team Champions Arn Anderson & Paul Roma to win the titles at 23:58 when Knobbs pinned Roma following Saggs’ elbowsmash off the top behind the back of referee Randy Anderson, moments after Knobbs sustained the spinebuster / swandive double team; after the match, Ventura interviewed the Nastys & Missy at ringside in which Missy said that was payback for what Ric Flair did to her and she and the Nastys said the Horsemen were dead (Missy’s surprise debut with the Nasty Boys)
