Starrcade Rally 84 – featured a performance from the Gator Tail Band, an autograph session, and the announcement of who would be part of Starrcade 84; included a segment in which ring announcer Dr. Tom Miller introduced Jim Crockett Jr., who called for the contestants of the $1 million Starrcade 84 main event match to appear; moments later, a limo drove NWA World Champion Ric Flair and Crockett introduced Flair and his opponent Dusty Rhodes, who was also driven out; Miller then gave Flair the mic, who said his greatest moment was regaining the title at Starrcade 83 in front of 45,000 fans who were watching in Greensboro and throughout the country and said he would be ready for any kind of action; Miller then introduced Rhodes, who said he knew the fans would have their heartstrings pulled in the match, said how proud he was to have been NWA World Champion and travel the world, and then addressed Flair saying he didn’t want to see him or hear from him until their match; Flair responded that he knew something big was going to go down so he had a piece of music prepared for him to leave, with ‘Oh Lord, It’s Hard to Be Humble’ playing as Flair exited the stage and was driven away; the first 1,000 fans received free T-shirts
