Jimmy Valiant defeated Mid-Atlantic TV Champion the Great Kabuki (w/ Gary Hart) at around the 10-minute mark by pinning an interfering Hart; before the bout, Valiant took the mic and cut a promo on Kabuki and Hart from the floor before beating up both men in the ring; Valiant bled from the face during the match; late in the bout, Valiant pulled a chain out of his trunks and repeatedly hit both Kabuki and Hart with it as the referee was knocked out; Kabuki was not announced as champion nor did he appear with the belt
Buzz Sawyer fought Abdullah the Butcher (w/ Paul Ellering) to a no contest at 4:18; before the bout, Sawyer ran out to ringside and attacked Ellering from behind on the floor; Abdullah and Sawyer then brawled around ringside, with both men bleeding from the head, Sawyer hitting the referee and a steel chair being used as a weapon; the two later traded use of foregin objects before the match was thrown out; after the bell, the two continued to fight in and outside the ring for several more minutes using chairs and a fork; the two fought into the crowd, with Sawyer eventually returning to the ring as if to dare Abdullah to follow him
National Heavyweight Champion Brett Sawyer & Dusty Rhodes fought National Tag Team Champions the Road Warriors (w/ Paul Ellering) to a double disqualification at 15:11 when all four men, and Ellering, began fighting in the ring; after the bout, Ellering twice threw the referee to the floor and, as the Road Warriors held up Rhodes and Sawyer individually, Ellering hit them in the head with his shoe; moments later, the Road Warriors held Sawyer in place for Ellering to come off the ropes onto his arm; the Road Warriors went on to beat up several wrestlers that tried to intervene until Buzz Sawyer, his head still bandaged from the earlier match, ran out and made the save before he and Dusty tended to Brett; Buzz then carried Brett out of the ring, with the other wrestlers helping him backstage

World Championship Wrestling – 3/18/89: Barry & Kendall Windham (w/ Hiro Matsuda) defeated NWA US Champion Lex Luger & Michael Hayes at 5:16 when Barry pinned Luger following a lariat from Kendall and Hayes causing his partner to trip; after the bout, Hayes and the Windhams triple teamed Luger, with Kendall holding Luger up for Hayes to drop him with an elevated DDT; following the bout, Jim Ross conducted a ringside interview with Hayes in which he officially joined Matsuda’s group; as Luger pulled himself up to his feet, Hayes left ringside (The Most Powerful Families of Wrestling)

Pay-per-view bouts – included an opening in-ring segment in which Gary Michael Cappetta introduced the playing of the national anthem; featured Jim Ross & Terry Funk on commentary for the singles bouts and Ross & Jim Cornette on commentary for the tag team matches; before the opening bout, Cappetta introduced all four teams, who stood at the entrance stage; prior to the first singles match, Cappetta introduced all the singles wrestlers, who stood at the entrance stage; several rows close to the ring had many empty seats early in the show as fans showed up late; rules of the round robin tournament: winners via pinfall were awarded 20 points, via count-out 15 points, via disqualification 10 points, and participants of a draw each earned 5 points; the Wild Samoans replaced Sid Vicious & Dan Spivey in the tournament due to an injury to Vicious; included Gordon Solie interviewing the Road Warriors & Paul Ellering on their victory in the tag team tournament, in which Solie incorrectly referred to them as the tag team champions; Solie then attempted to interview Sting and NWA World Champion Ric Flair, with only the audio of the comments airing during the closing credits of the broadcast:
