The Acolytes won an 8-team battle royal by last eliminating Matt & Jeff Hardy at 10:55; other teams included: Edge & Christian, the Dudley Boyz, Grandmaster Sexay & Scotty 2 Hotty, Pete Gas & Rodney, the Godfather & Mark Henry, and the Headbangers; order of elimination: Pete Gas by Farooq via a backdrop at 1:49; both Rodney and an interfering Joey Abs were eliminated earlier in the match but the referee failed to notice; Headbanger Mosh by the Godfather via a backdrop at 2:36; Mark Henry by the Acolytes at 3:18; Grandmaster Sexay & Scotty 2 Hotty by Edge & Christian at 4:46; Edge by D-Von at 6:06 after pulling Edge off the ring apron; D-Von by Matt at 7:51; Jeff by Farooq via a throw as Bradshaw pulled down the top rope; both Matt and Bradshaw eliminated each other at 8:41 and the match was ordered to continue; Jeff eliminated Farooq with a headscissors at 9:46 but the referee failed to notice; prior to the bout, the Dudley Boyz and Edge & Christian had a brief in-ring brawl and the Hardy Boyz were escorted to the ring by Terri; due to pre-match stipulations, the Acolytes earned a tag team title shot at the Royal Rumble
Kurt Angle pinned Steve Blackman at 6:56 with a German suplex after avoiding an enzuiguri; after the bout, Blackman attacked Angle with a pair of nunchucks
Miss Kitty defeated Jackie, BB, and WWF Women’s Champion Ivory in a swimming pool evening gown match to win the title at 2:57; order of elimination: Jackie by Ivory, BB by Ivory & Kitty; Mae Young and the Fabulous Moolah were the special referees for the bout; after the contest, Miss Kitty took the microphone and said she would not disappoint all the fans that came to see her naked; she then took off her dress, jumped in the pool, came out and pulled down her bra before Sgt. Slaughter and Tony Garea came out to cover her up and escort her backstage; moments later, Mae Young attempted to strip down as well but Slaughter returned to take her backstage
Hardcore & Crash Holly defeated Viscera & Rikishi when Hardcore pinned Rikishi at 4:23 when Hardcore pinned Rikishi after Viscera accidentally hit a spin kick to the back of his own partner; after the bout, Rikishi and Viscera argued over the loss, with Rikishi superkicking Viscera to the floor and the two men brawling briefly until they were broken apart by officials
Val Venis defeated WWF European Champion Davey Boy Smith and D-Lo Brown to win the title at 8:19 by pinning Smith after hitting the Money Shot on both men as D-Lo covered Smith following the Lo Down; the Mean Street Posse escorted the champion to the ring but were sent backstage before the match by referee Teddy Long
Kane (w/ Tori) pinned X-Pac in a steel cage match at 8:13 with the tombstone after slamming the cage door in his opponent’s face and following with a clothesline off the top of the cage; WWF Tag Team Champions the Road Dogg & Billy Gunn came out mid-way through the match, cut open the cage door, and threw in a steel chair and a pair of handcuffs for X-Pac to use; Kane was briefly handcuffed to the cage as X-Pac hit the X-Factor on an interfering Tori; pre-match stipulations stated Kane could only win the match via pinfall but X-Pac could win by escaping the cage or by pinfall (The Twisted, Disturbed Life of Kane)
Chris Jericho defeated WWF IC Champion Chyna (w/ WWF Women’s Champion Miss Kitty) to win the title at 10:20 via submission with the Walls of Jericho; immediately after the bout, Michael Cole interviewed Jericho backstage where Chyna interrupted and shook the new champion’s hand for being the better wrestler
The Rock & Mankind defeated WWF Tag Team Champions the Road Dogg & Billy Gunn via disqualification at 16:25 when Al Snow interfered and prevented Rock from getting the pinfall after hitting the Rock Bottom on Gunn; earlier in the bout, Snow interfered and hit Mankind with Head, only to be chased to the entrance by Rock and assaulted; after the contest, Rock hit the Rock Bottom on Road Dogg and the Rock Bottom and People’s Elbow on Snow (Allied Powers)
WWF World Champion the Big Show pinned WWF Hardcore Champion the Big Bossman (w/ Albert) with the chokeslam at 3:13; mid-way through the contest, Show hit the chokeslam on Albert through the Spanish announce table; only the world title was at stake in the contest
Triple H pinned Vince McMahon in a no holds barred match at 29:45 by placing one foot on Vince’s chest after Vince pushed his daughter Stephanie, who sat ringside for the match, out of the way and received a sledgehammer blow to the midsection and face; early in the contest, Mankind came ringside with a shopping cart full of weapons for Vince to use; after the contest, Triple H attempted to use the sledgehammer on Stephanie as she tended to her father but then put the weapon down as he and Stephanie embraced, revealing that their feud was a ruse all along; due to pre-match stipulations, Triple H earned a world title shot; had Vince won, the marriage between Triple H and Stephanie would have become null and void (Triple H: That Damn Good, Mr. McMahon)

Pay-per-view bouts – featured Jim Ross & Jerry Lawler on commentary; included clips throughout the show from previous Hell in a Cell matches; featured a pretaped segment in which Kevin Kelly interviewed the Undertaker inside the Hell in a Cell regarding the main event; included Vince McMahon, along with Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson, cutting an in-ring promo in which he protested the Hell in a Cell main event and said that both Mick Foley and the fans would be blamed for the destruction the match would cause; featured Shawn Michaels at WWF New York in which he gave his comments on being in Hell in a Cell and the night’s main event; several members of the XFL’s Birmingham Bolts were in attendance for the show; included a pretaped segment in which Jim Ross spoke to Steve Austin about Hell in a Cell:
WWF Light Heavyweight Champion Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero, & Perry Saturn (w/ Terri) defeated Lita, Matt & Jeff Hardy in an elimination match at 8:03; Jeff pinned Guerrero at 2:56 with the Swanton after Lita hit the Twist of Fate behind the referee’s back; Saturn pinned Jeff at 3:41 with the DVD after catching Hardy as Hardy attempted a springboard splash in the corner; Matt pinned Saturn with a kick to the midsection and the Twist of Fate at 5:07; Malenko pinned Matt with a roll up at 5:33 after sending Hardy into Lita, knocking Lita to the floor; Malenko defeated Lita via submission with the Texas Cloverleaf; after the bout, Malenko threw Lita to the floor before the Hardy Boyz returned to the ring to scare him from ringside; moments later, Michael Cole interviewed Lita at ringside during which she said she knew she could beat Malenko (Divas in Hedonism, Lita: It Just Feels Right)
WWF European Champion William Regal pinned Hardcore Holly at 4:59 after Raven interfered and hit the DDT on the challenger behind the referee’s back
Val Venis (w/ WWF Women’s Champion Ivory) pinned Chyna with a kick to the midsection and the fisherman’s suplex at 5:02 while Chyna was distracted by chasing an interfering Ivory around the ring; after the bout, Chyna pulled Ivory back inside the ring and attempted to hit a powerbomb but was attacked from behind by Venis who hit a back suplex
Chris Jericho defeated Kane in a Last Man Standing match at 16:45 after shoving a stack of barrels, part of the entrance stage set, onto Kane and then standing on top of the barrels as referee Teddy Long gave the 10-count (The Twisted, Disturbed Life of Kane)
Edge & Christian defeated WWF Tag Team Champions the Goodfather & Bull Buchanon (w/ Steven Richards), the Road Dogg & K-Kwick, and the Dudley Boyz to win the titles at 9:42 when Edge pinned Bubba Ray after hitting the spear and Christian following with the Unprettier behind the referee’s back
Chris Benoit defeated WWF IC Champion Billy Gunn to win the title at 10:01 via submission with the Crippler Crossface
WWF Women’s Champion Ivory defeated Trish Stratus and Molly Holly at 2:11 by pinning Trish after Molly powerbombed Trish but was thrown to the floor by the champion; after the match, the Acolytes made their return by saving Crash Holly from an attack by Test & Albert after T&A came out and cornered Molly (Divas in Hedonism)
WWF World Champion Kurt Angle defeated Steve Austin, Rikishi, the Undertaker, the Rock, and Triple H in a Hell in a Cell bout at 32:10 by pinning the Rock after Austin hit the Stunner on the Rock but was prevented by making the cover by Triple H; mid-way through the bout, Vince McMahon had a truck driven to the ring so he could dismantle the cage; moments later, Mick Foley came out and had McMahon sent backstage before the cage could be taken down; late in the bout, the Undertaker chokeslammed Rikishi from the top of the cage down onto the bed of the truck; after the match, Austin hit the Stunner on Angle (Hell in a Cell, The Atittude Era)

Booker T & Goldust defeated Lance Storm & William Regal, the Dudley Boyz, and WWE Raw Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho & Christian in an elimination match to win the titles at 16:45; Regal pinned Bubba at 5:18 by grabbing the tights for leverage after Storm hit a top rope legdrop as Bubba covered Christian following the 3D; Goldust pinned Regal with a powerslam at 6:33; Booker pinned Jericho with the Book End as Jericho attempted to hit Booker with one of the title belts
Edge defeated Albert via disqualification at 7:13 when Albert hit Edge in the leg with a steel chair after kicking out of Edge’s spear; after the bout, Edge assaulted Albert with the chair, repeatedly hitting him with it
Chris Benoit defeated WWE Smackdown! Tag Team Champion Eddie Guerrero via submission with the Crippler Crossface at 16:48 after reversing an attempt at the El Passo Lasso, despite interference late in the bout from WWE Smackdown! Tag Team Champion Chavo Guerrero Jr.
Batista (w/ Ric Flair) pinned Kane with a kick to the midsection and the sit-down powerbomb at 6:39 after Kane threw Flair into the ring and began assaulting him (Batista: I Walk Alone)
WWE Women’s Champion Victoria defeated Trish Stratus and Jackie by pinning Jackie at 4:25 after hitting Trish in the head with the title belt as Trish had Jackie covered following a clothesline; after the bout, Victoria put on Trish’s felt cowboy hat at ringside (Victoria’s first appearance using TATU’s “All the Things She Said” as her theme music)
Kurt Angle pinned WWE World Champion the Big Show (w/ Paul Heyman) to win the title at 12:37 after Brock Lesnar interfered, dropped Show with the F5, and chased Heyman backstage, moments after Albert interfered and dropped Angle with the backbreaker
Triple H defeated World Heavyweight Champion Shawn Michaels in a Best 2 out of 3 falls match to win the title at 38:33; fall #1 – Triple H pinned Michaels in a hardcore match at 20:35 with the Pedigree after clipping the champion’s injured leg; fall #2 – Michaels pinned Triple H in a steel cage match at 31:05 following a splash off the top of the cage through a table set up in the ring after hitting the superkick on both the challenger and an interfering Ric Flair, who returned ringside mid-way through the fall after being ejected before the match; after the fall, a bloody Flair was helped backstage by referees; fall #3 – Triple H defeated Michaels in a ladder match after knocking the champion off the ladder – sending him over the top rope through three tables set up outside the ring (Triple H: The King of Kings)

Rico (w/ Jackie Gayda) pinned John Heidenreich with a modified neckbreaker at 1:30 after Heidenreich became distracted by Jackie on the ring apron (Armageddon 03)
Pay-per-view bouts – featured Lilian Garcia opening the broadcast by singing the National Anthem; included Jim Ross & Jerry Lawler on commentary; featured footage and interviews from the WWE press conference earlier in the week in Los Angeles promoting the upcoming Smackdown! broadcast in Iraq, with appearances by Bradshaw, the Big Show, John Cena, Sable, Torrie Wilson, and Vince McMahon:
Booker T pinned Mark Henry (w/ Teddy Long) with a kick to the midsection and the scissors kick at 9:22 after Henry hit the corner; Henry sustained the scissors kick earlier in the bout but kicked out of the cover
Randy Orton (w/ Ric Flair) pinned WWE IC Champion Rob Van Dam to win the title at 17:59 with the RKO after dropkicking the champion as he was perched on the top, causing him to crotch himself across the top turnbuckle, moments after guest referee Mick Foley prevented Flair from interfering with a pair of brass knuckles; prior to the bout, Foley came out and announced that the petition to bring back Steve Austin had one million signatures and that it was something to be celebrated; Stacy Keibler then came out in a cheerleader outfit and pom poms to celebrate with Foley; moments later, Orton & Ric Flair came out to interrupt, with Orton saying Austin was gone for good because of his win at Survivor Series; in response, Foley took off his jacket to reveal his referee shirt and said the IC title match would take place immediately (Randy Orton: The Evolution of a Predator)
Chris Jericho & Christian defeated Trish Stratus & Lita at 6:38 when Christian pinned Trish with a roll up after Jericho helped Trish to her feet
Shawn Michaels pinned Batista (w/ Ric Flair) at 12:21 with the superkick after blocking an attempt at the sit-down powerbomb, then falling on top of Batista for the win; with the way Michaels fell his shoulders were also down during the cover but no issue was made of it; moments later, with Batista and Flair still inside the ring, Matt Hardy and Maven were introduced for their match and began brawling at ringside; Hardy eventually threw Maven inside the ring where he was assaulted by Batista and sustained two sit-down powerbombs; after being checked out by referees and the trainer, Maven was deemed unable to compete; Hardy then shoved the referees out of the way, counted his own pinfall, grabbed a mic, and announced himself as the winner; moments later, Flair was shown encouraging Batista backstage, saying they would be leaving the arena with belts around their waists (Batista: I Walk Alone)
Ric Flair & Batista defeated WWE Raw Tag Team Champions the Dudley Boyz, Scott Steiner & Test, Rob Conway & Rene Dupree, the Hurricane & Rosey, Mark Jindrak & Garrison Cade, and Lance Storm & Val Venis to win the titles in a tag team turmoil match at 21:32; Hurricane pinned Conway at 3:18 with a splash off Rosey’s shoulders; Jindrak pinned Hurricane with a roll up at 3:35 by sneaking up behind him after Jindrak & Cade came through the crowd; Jindrak pinned Venis at 10:55 after Cade swept Venis’ leg out during a suplex into the ring and held the foot down during the cover; Bubba Ray pinned Jindrak following the 3D at 12:19; D-Von pinned Test at 19:27 after Bubba hit the Bubba Bomb; after the Dudleyz were announced as the winners, Eric Bischoff came out and said there was one more team left to enter the match – Ric Flair & Batista; Batista pinned D-Von with the sit-down powerbomb as Flair had Bubba caught in the figure-4
WWE Women’s Champion Molly Holly pinned Ivory at 4:24 with a rolling reverse cradle after Ivory sent the champion into the corner and rolled her up
Triple H defeated Kane and World Heavyweight Champion Bill Goldberg to win the title at 19:30 by pinning Goldberg after Kane hit the chokeslam on the champion and was pulled out to the floor by Batista; earlier in the bout, both Ric Flair and Randy Orton interfered on behalf of Triple H but were beaten down by Goldberg; after the contest, Evolution posed with all four of their newly-won championship belts on the entrance stage

Billy Kidman & Akio defeated Chavo Guerrero Jr. & Paul London at 5:44 when Akio pinned Guerrero with a spin kick after Chavo knocked Kidman to the floor with a clothesline (Armageddon 04)

Kurt Angle Invitational: Kurt Angle defeated Santa Claus via submission with the ankle lock at the 27-second mark in an unscheduled bout
Tough Enough Challenge: Daniel Puder defeated Mike Mizanin in a 3-round boxing match via crowd decision; prior to the match, Teddy Long came out and hyped up the audience for the boxing fight; Al Snow did guest commentary for the bout; after the bout, Long led the crowd in deciding who the winner was; moments later, Snow conducted an in-ring interview with Mizanin and Puder about the fight and their chances of winning Tough Enough the next week on Smackdown!
Doug & Danny Basham defeated Charlie Haas & Hardcore Holly at 6:53 in an unadvertised match when Danny pinned Holly with an inside cradle after the Bashams switched places in the ring as Holly and Haas were distracted by Jackie Gayda and Dawn Marie fighting on the floor, both of whom came ringside late in the match; after the bout, Holly berated his partner for not paying attention to the match
WWE US Champion John Cena pinned Jesus (w/ Carlito Carribean Cool) in a streetfight with the FU at 7:51 after hitting the challenger over the head with a trash can lid and a piece of wood; during the contest, Jesus was only able to put up a very small offense; after the bout, Cena reclaimed his steel chain and knocked Carlito out with it; it was prior to the bout that Cena debuted his new custom spinner championship belt (Jesus’ last appearance)
Dawn Marie pinned Jackie Gayda at 1:44 with a roll over and grabbing the tights for leverage; after the bout, guest referee Charlie Haas grabbed the mic, admitted he was having an affair with Dawn Marie and called off the engagement with Jackie; Haas then got down on his knee with the engagement ring he gave Jackie – as though he was going to propose to Dawn – but then called her a slut and left both women in the ring
The Big Show defeated Kurt Angle, Mark Jindrak, & Luther Reigns in a handicap match at 9:58 by pinning Jindrak with an F5 after kicking the steel ring steps into Angle’s face as Angle was on the floor
Sho Funaki pinned WWE Cruiserweight Champion Spike Dudley to win the title at 9:31 with a roll over; after the bout, Funaki hugged the English and Spanish commentary teams
WWE World Champion John Bradshaw Layfield defeated Eddie Guerrero, the Undertaker, and Booker T in a No DQ match at 25:34 by pinning Booker with the Clothesline from Hell, moments after John Heidenreich pulled Taker out of the ring and locked him in a cobra clutch; Heidenreich appeared late in the bout and assaulted Taker in the ring before watching the remainder of the match from ringside, then pulling Taker to the floor during the closing moments; pre-match stipulations stated JBL’s cabinet was banned from ringside for the duration of the match; after the match, JBL left through the crowd (The Greatest Superstars of the 21st Century)

Pay-per-view bouts – featured Michael Cole & Tazz on commentary; included video recaps of the Undertaker’s Hell in a Cell battles with Mick Foley, Rikishi, and Shawn Michaels; featured an in-ring segment with Teddy Long & Palmer Canon in which Long thanked the fans for their continued support, with Canon introducing Santa Claus and an elf, with Vito, as Santa, and Nunzio, as the elf, coming out; Santa Vito then said he wouldn’t be coming to Providence and Nunzio Elf said he wanted a tag team title or cruiserweight title shot for Christmas; Canon agreed they deserved a present, with the Boogeyman then coming out; Boogeyman then attacked both men, pulled a handful of worms out of Santa’s bag, and stuffed them down Vito’s mouth; included Josh Matthews at The Friendly Tap bar with former referee Tim White in which footage was shown of the Chris Jericho / Triple H Hell in a Cell match that ended his refereeing career; moments later, White explained that the injury ruined his life, walked off camera with a shotgun, and a gunshot was heard:
John Bradshaw Layfield (w/ Jillian Hall) pinned Matt Hardy at 6:45 with the Clothesline from Hell after throwing Hardy into an unprotected turnbuckle and following with a clothesline in the corner; before the bout, JBL cut a lengthy in-ring promo on Hardy until he was interrupted by Hardy’s entrance
Johnny Nitro & Joey Mercury (w/ Melina) defeated Super Crazy & Psychosis at 8:56 when Mercury pinned Crazy following the Snapshot
